Leah Hodson graduated from the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute in 2012. From there she moved to Santa Barbara where she worked and trained under Wayne Kjar, son of local legend Henning Kjar. With his knowledge and insight in the bakery business he helped train her to eventually be able to run her own bakery. In 2019 The Little Things Bakery opened their doors in the same location where Wayne had run Your Cake Baker.

The Aurea Vista Hotel was designed by G. Stanley Wilson, who also designed the facade of the Stalder building and was chief architect of the Mission Inn. The building opened on March 28, 1928 as a hotel and separate banquet room on the upper floor and a furniture store on the ground floor.

The building was used as an anti-aircraft intelligence headquarters during World War II. The Riverside Ballet Arts opened a dance school in the banquet room in 1970. The Ballet and the Old Riverside Foundation petitioned the City of Riverside to designate the Aurea Vista building as a local landmark and became City Historical Landmark No. 84.

In 2014, Shelby Worthington & Cindy Alden started Loft .84. Shelby and Cindy made several improvements and rennovations to the space in order to bring it back to life and to it’s original purpose, weddings & events.  The venue is now Loft.84, named after its Historical Landmark designation.

We are sharing this sample details page as a way to help you visualize our design and point out the benefits of adding your business.

Many would agree that options available on wedding platforms over the last few decades have fallen short. For years we have pondered… Why isn’t there a simple directory for the wedding industry that is both informative and affordable to all?  A platform that concentrates all wedding services that couples would be interested in.

We built this website from an experienced vendor perspective, for both engaged couples and wedding professionals. Our intention is to simplify a couple’s search for their ideal wedding needs, as well as offer wedding businesses an affordable, easy to manage listing to showcase their services. We believe our platform is beneficial to the local community and all facets of the wedding industry.

 

Getting Acquainted With Our Site 

On our Home Page you will find a random selection of businesses throughout Southern California.

The left sidebar contains Wedding Events; all upcoming Bridal Shows/Expos, as well as Trunk Shows. Below this, you will find all Wedding Services listed by category.

Once a category in Wedding Services is selectedyou will find several filters on the left side of the page. You can search by region or county as well as several other filters which are specific to that vendor category. By checking multiple boxes in these filters, couples are able to narrow their search results to align with their specific needs by location, price, services offered, etc.

Pages where you find multiple listings, referred to as the grid – are set to display relevant information at a glance. Selecting a specific business will take you to their details page.

Your Contact Information is shown along with your Website / Social Media links and three Images.

In Listing Description – Here you will describe your business. Above your description you will find the following tabs:

Send to friend – Allows people to send your listing to a friend via email.

Add to favorites – Couples seeking vendor options can click this tab to save your company’s info in their profile area, for later retrieval.

Print – Allows the ability to print this listing.

 

We offer our own Review system (stars and count). We are a new company which means a fresh start for everyone. Your reviews will show under your business name in the grid, as well at the top of your details page. The sooner you join, the sooner you can start building your Reviews.

Members are able to add, edit, or update their listing at any time. Additionally, Visitor Statistics can be viewed by day, month, or year from your dashboard.

The Live Google Map will help couples navigate to your business easily. Below the map, they will find more useful information about your company.

An historic, award-winning, chef and restaurateur driven, full service special event venue like no other in Los Angeles.

Built in 1876, the Cathedral of St. Vibiana was designed by Ezra F. Kysor – one of Los Angeles’ first practicing architects. Saved from demolition by the LA Conservancy through a dramatic battle with the Catholic Church after the 1994 Northridge earthquake left the building in dire condition, the cathedral was restored and retrofitted by DTLA revitalization pioneers Gilmore and Associates and converted into the stunning event venue it is today, known simply as Vibiana. Los Angeles restaurateurs Chef Neal Fraser and Amy Knoll Fraser took over the operation of the property in late 2012 and furthered the adaptive reuse by adding their flagship restaurant Redbird along with 5 private dining spaces in the rectory building adjacent to Vibiana’s grand Main Hall and Courtyard. Vibiana hosts weddings and social occasions, corporate events, non-profit fundraisers, performing arts shows and film shoots.

Longtime Los Angeles Restaurateurs Chef Neal Fraser and Amy Knoll Fraser toured and fell in love with the Vibiana property in 2008, spent the next 4 years scheming to take over and finally acquired operation of the compound in late 2012. The Frasers bring their guest-first, holistic restaurant hospitality philosophy, honed over three decades in the industry, to special events. Along with the Vibiana culinary, beverage and event management teams the Frasers provide restaurant level service from beginning to end with every detail considered.

The Vibiana campus is a vast property and a true oasis in the Historic Core of Downtown Los Angeles. The beauty of the architecture of the Main Hall and its lush courtyard provides an incredibly versatile backdrop for designing a stunning event. In addition to Redbird’s main dining room just next door, the restaurant offers 5 private dining spaces on the floors above plus a secret garden tucked between the Main Hall and the Little Tokyo Library. An entire wedding weekend can be celebrated on property or a weeklong corporate event with unique break-out rooms. Redbird’s private spaces offer well-appointed green rooms for filming or musical performances.

Our Traditional Wedding package is designed for those looking to uphold classic traditions as well as those looking to create their own unique memories. This package includes use of the venue for rehearsal, ceremony, and reception. Also included in your rental are tables, chairs, plenty of free public parking in a nearby lot, setup/breakdown, and other complimentary features! Our package is a flat rate, regardless of date or season. There are no discounts for partial use. Best of all, there’s no tax on your rental, since the money goes towards supporting the programs of our nonprofit organization, the Western Justice Center. By booking The Maxwell House, you are assisting valuable programs that empower people to strengthen their communities by growing the conflict resolution skills and capacity of youth, educators, schools, and community partners.

Choice of Saturday or Sunday rental (no weekday weddings) with prep time the Friday before your event.

Weddings may use the rental time for ceremonies, receptions, or both. No changes in pricing can be made. Our flat rate applies for any weekend rental regardless of usage, season, or date. Some holiday weekends may have increased rates.

Private use of The Maxwell House from 11am-11pm (12hrs) on the day of the wedding/event. This time includes setup and breakdown. All events must end by 10pm and be cleared by 11pm. This time can not be altered.

Private use includes the living room, dining room, library, foyer, mezzanine, kitchen, garden patios, and wedding suite.

Prep/rehearsal time in the space from 1pm-5pm (4hrs) the Friday before the event. You may use this time to decorate, schedule deliveries, rehearse, etc.

Setup & breakdown of furniture owned by The Maxwell House, according to your floor plan needs.

Rental pickups may take place Monday morning following your event (a budget-friendly option!)

Access to nearby parking lot + free public street parking available.

Dance floor Required for all events where dancing will take place. (Our dance floor is located at the back of the Foyer and cannot be moved. )
